The Resident Evil film franchise, which is based on a video-game, started out in 2002 and concluded in 2016. The six-part film-series has grossed over $1.2 billion dollar and is the highest ranked film franchise based on a video-game to date.
The film franchise was created by Paul w. S. Anderson and by the final movie it has been rumoured that the creators would reboot the series once more. But in this case, as a tv-series or a film-series with a new cast and showrunner. As the rumour goes, Netflix would acquire the rights for the series and would have the same narrative as the films but in a far darker tone.
More so, the series will explore the umbrella corporation and serve a deeper connection to the world of the video-games and films. Nothing has been confirmed either by production company Constantin film or Netflix yet considering that the franchise has gained more popularity by time. January 25th, 2019 – the remake resident evil 2 is released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox one.
