Film – Prequel To “The Sopranos” Gets A NEW Title And Release Date!
The hit-drama from HBO; finally gets a movie that depicts the events before the shows beginning. It’s heading to the theater on September 25 2020, with the title “Newark”.
James Gandolfini’s son is set to play young tony in the feature film. Set during the Newark riots of 1967, the film will explore Tony Soprano’s life in this earlier era. Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, and Billy Magnussen is among the talented cast. David Chase, the creator of the original-series, co-wrote the script with Lawrence Konner. Alan Taylor, director from Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World, is set to direct. The cast from the show reunited for the 20th anniversary and talked to the ET about James Gandolfini.
“I feel like he never really knew how good he was,” Edie Falco, who played Tony’s wife, Carmela, on the mob drama explained to ET. “He was so humble in the face of how great he was. He never really felt like he knew what he was doing… Such a powerful actor and such a powerful scene partner. But the humility added to just how much fun he was to be with.”
The show had its run between 1999 to 2007 on HBO. The feature film will be distributed by Warner Bros.
