Stephen King’s The Talisman Is Finally Arriving At The Big Screen
For many years, the epic fantasy novel by Stephen King and Peter Straub The Talisman is finally becoming a feature film.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Amblin Entertainment, Steven Spielberg’s production company, has finally start developed a movie version of the epic story. Mike Barker, Outlander, and The Handmaid’s Tale are slated to direct The Talisman in hope to tell the story about Jack Sawyer and his adventure of other dimensions in the quest to save his mother from dying.
Chris Sparling pens the script. Steven Spielberg was fascinated by the thrilling and exciting story just like The Shining and The Stand. Spielberg hopes as well to acclaim the film rights forever, not just for the adaptation.
“It’s something that I’ve wanted to see come to theaters for the last 35 years,” he told EW last year, while discussing his longtime desire to work on something with King. “I feel that in the very near future, that’s going to be our richest collaboration.”
Spielberg has been interested in this major projected early on as he went from directing to producing, which the writer duo became familiar with. For some time it was even considered to be a Miniseries on TNT.
“Several times he came very close to making it, and there were a lot of discussions about that,” King told EW.
How and when it arrives on the big screen remains to be seen but it’s finally happening.
