Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. is looking for ‘Twilight star’ Robert Pattinson to taking on the batcape
According to Variety.com, “The Batman” director Matt Reeves after taking on the directive duties from Ben Affleck, back in early 2017, is now in talks with actor Robert Pattinson to be cast as the main role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the upcoming superhero movie for the character.
No deal has been announced or signed yet, but sources are saying that it’s probably going to been done soon because he is one of the top choices. This news coming even when the script’s final version is not done yet either. Warner Bros. is giving the “Planet of the Apes” director a lot leeway on his superhero project, in hope that it will be more successful than previous disappointments with “Batman v Superman” and “Justice League”. The filming hasn’t officially started yet but is probably looking to be in late 2019 or early 2020.
While this news is out, according to Collider.com, the film’s villains are probably going to be The Penguin and Catwoman, two familiar characters for the Batman Universe. They both were notably in the 1992 Tim Burton movie “Batman Returns” where they were played by actor Danny DeVito and actress Michelle Pfeiffer respectively. Director Reeves is probably going to focus first on finishing the deal with Pattison as Batman before officially planning or announcing the caped crusader’s movie counterparts or the actors playing them.
Actor Josh Gad has notably lobbied on social media for the part of The Penguin. The Collider.com writer continues to name other choices for the roles as the villains, such as Jonah Hill and Melissa McCarthy for The Penguin and Saoirse Ronan as Catwoman.
However, the only thing we can do for now is to wait for more updates. Warner Bros. is planning the film to be released on June 25, 2021.
