DUMB HORROR-MOVIE LOGIC AND A FAILED PLOTLINE
Horror movies should be scary. It should make you terrified and give you a nightmare. Stephen Kings novels usually evoke that feeling. The feeling of suspense and intense scenes that stabs you in the got usually is one of his major signatures when it comes to horrifying storytelling.
This wasn’t the case. Don’t expect anything worth to hold on to. Even if the story is based on King’s mind it doesn’t help in this case. It feels somehow foreseen and elaborated on how the film actually should play out. It’s here where all the trailers for the film come in. They’re all well-edited and a distraction, considering what garbage this movie is. It doesn’t have an identity. It doesn’t have a soul. It establishes this young family; a sarcastic and nonchalant doctor, a neurotic and mental ill home-wife and two children. The children don’t go to school and or even share scenes in school. Nothing of that makes even sense. It should be that goddamn hard. It a very basic story where the plot is pathetically predictable.
Everyone who wrong in a movie, this film share that very same result. It provokes to even see that a story who could be great and engaging is so fucked. The character is quite lost through the White episode. There is no connection. The actors don’t give a shit, either. I don’t give a fuck about any of them of the characters. So stupid and naive. Even the visual was sloppy, amateurish and you will see how they strategically use a green screen. The visual is horrible throughout the whole movie. They can’t do moon in the night sky properly. The music is barely noticeable and doesn’t serve a true purpose. They use constant unnecessary jump scares that don’t progress the main plot. It’s only a narrative tool cause the writers were lazy and stupid and didn’t know how to do a good horror movie. All is written is uncanny flashbacks. There is a lot of dreadful flashbacks with a lot of exposition.
The genre promises a horror-movie but this is comic-relief of that genre. It doesn’t provide any REAL scary moment for the audience to be on the edge of their seats. No! This movie is a lie and that it isn’t a success at the box office is proof enough. It’s close to garbage and a waste of time and money. One of the worst movie of the year.
