To make room and prepare for the upcoming streaming service DisneyPlus, Marvel has recently in the past year cancelled all Netflix/Marvel Series including; Daredevil, Iron Fist, The Punisher, Luke Cage and now Jessica Jones.
The Punisher and Jessica Jones were the last two to get the ax from being available on Netflix. We’ll have to wait at least 18 months to 2 years after the cancellation of the show, before the Marvel Studios are able to use these heroes again. This is because a clausal that prevents Marvel from using these characters again in that timeframe. Whether it will be revived for DisneyPlus or Hulu, is still unknown.
Kevin Feige Marvel Studios president, speaking to BET, didn’t brought that much new when asked about which hero from The Defenders he would enjoyed most:
“I don’t know. There were a lot of great characters that were on those Netflix series, and I think there is a period of time…it’ll be awhile before we could use any of them based on what the contracts were, so I’m not sure. And also, even answering that question is a spoiler. But there are some great Marvel characters there.”
For the time being, it looks like the Netflix part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is going to stay closed for a while longer. Furthermore, it also tends to be Jessica Jones is the one who finishing this part of MCU, as it streams right now on Netflix.
