It was a storm by fans when it was announced that Spider-Man wouldn’t be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now he’s confirmed to be back.
The old agreement between Disney and Sony Pictures provided reaction on the internet that maybe has got them to rethink this agreement about what to do with Spider-Man, but the agreement is confirmed to be done and Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker. And yet, the financial information about this deal is still unknown for the time being.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures has set the release date for the third movie on July 16, 2021. According to DisInsider, the new agreement contains an unknown character in the third movie. Spider-Man is coming back for two more movies. Holland is joined once more by the returning cast of Zendaya, Marissa Tomei, Jacob Battalon, Jon Favreau.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige released a statement:
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”¨
Producer Amy Pascal, ex-worker for Sony, that will be producing the next movie for her company Pascal Company, spoke out as well:
“This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes,” said Pascal. “This has been a winning partnership for the studios, the franchise and the fans and I’m overjoyed it will continue.”
Mackans Film has earlier reported this year, about the departure of Spider-Man from the MCU. And no, Kevin wasn’t too busy.
