From Chernobyl To Pirates Of The Caribbean; A New Reboot In Development

Hollywood, or Disney in this case, has a problem to keep their fingers out of the reboot-jar. This time, it’s a reboot of Captain Jack Sparrow series.

Craig Mazin who created the successful series Chernobyl is hired to write a new story for the rebooted Pirates of the Caribbean – franchise. A franchise is obviously dying and needs new fresh blood to keep it alive. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the first five movies, is set to return. Even writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from Deadpool was on the project for a while but dropped out.

Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio wrote the four first movies. The whole film series has grossed over $3.07 billion on the international market. Starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Beside of Chernobyl, Craig has written movies like Scary Movie and Hangover movies. Johnny Depp’s latest movie in the franchise grossed over $700 million dollars in the box office.
