Netflix has just announced that a TV-adaption of Shadow and Bone is in order.
This Fantasy-series is based on Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows. Plot: A young woman with newfound powers tries to save her land from a powerful, evil force.
Jessie Mei Li plays the protagonist Starkov. Supporting cast is Ben Barnes, Freddy Carter, Archie Renaux, Amita Suman, Kit Young. Ben Barnes is the most famous in the ensemble and was last seen in Westworld and Chronicles of Narnia. No confirmed date for release has yet been given but Heisserer had a comment about the new cast:
“Leigh and I are so excited to see this cast bring the Grishaverse to life. While some are perfect fits with how we envisioned them, others are surprising discoveries whose performance shattered our expectations.”
The eight-part series will be produced by Eric Heisserer, who also did Arrival and will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger. Bardugo is also serving as the executive producer. 21 Laps, who also did Stranger Things, is producing this series.
