The studio picks up the graphic novel by Andy Weir, who is the author of The Martian.

The novel is a fantasy mashup story of Dorothy from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Alice of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Wendy from Peter Pan. It has been illustrated by Sarah Andersen and started as a fan fiction which Weir worked on before the success of The Martian, which got a movie adaption in 2015 by director Ridley Scott.

Hollywoodreporter.com describes the novel’s story.

“Dorothy […] Alice […] and […] Wendy […] meet in boarding school for troubled young ladies. They each believe they’ve traveled to a fantastical world but no one else does. When their world-hopping sees Captain Hook and the Wicked Witch of the West team up to combine their magical villainy, the trio must band together to thwart them,” writes Hollywood reporter’s Borys Kit.

Screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson, from films like The Girl on the Train and Secretary, will pen the script. The three-time Oscar-nominated producer Michael De Luca is also attached to the project. Johnny Pariseau is the executive producer, along with Holly Bario and Mia Maniscalco from Amblin who will oversee everything.
