Wonder Woman (2017), DC-star, and Israeli native, Gal Gadot is set to star in her own-produced biopic for Polish Holocaust heroine and 2008 Nobel Prize nominee, Irena Sendler.

Justine Juel Gillmer, whose known for projects like “Harry Haft” and “The 100,” is set to write the script which will be based on Sendler’s work in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II. She provided poor children with false identifications so she with the help of dozens of others could smuggle them out of the town and into helpful families. In 1943, she was captured and tortured by the Nazi secret police, Gestapo, for information but she revealed nothing.

The film is gonna be produced by Gadot and her husband Jaron Varsano, for Warner Bros. through their Pilot Wave Company,  and they will do it together with Marc Platt.

Gadot is currently working as star and producer on the film “Wonder Woman 1984” which will have its premiere on June 5, 2020. She will also star in Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile (2020) and Netflix’s “Red Notice.” Together with husband Varsano she also is developing “My Dearest Fidel,” a project which is based on the article “‘My Dearest Fidel’: An ABC Journalist’s Secret Liaison With Fidel Castro” by Peter Kornbluh.
