It seems that singer and actress Lady Gaga will star in a director Ridley Scott-attached film about the Gucci family, focusing on the murder of founder Guccio Gucci’s grandson.

Grandson Maurizio Gucci got murdered in 1995 by a hitman hired by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who Gaga will eventually play.  Besides her successful music career, Gaga is known in the movie-world for her Oscar-nominated performance in A Star Is Born (2018) opposite Bradley Cooper.

This film’s script is from screenwriter Roberto Bentivegna and based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. describes some of Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani’s history, along with the eventual movie plot:

“[…] a compelling drama that is framed around the rise of a family business that denigrated into squabbles over control of the business and greed, at a time when Gucci was being corporatized, and the brand’s relevance restored by CEO Domenico De Sole and creative director Tom Ford. […] Maurizio had two daughters with Patrizia Reggiani, but he left her for another woman. She’d had a brain tumor removed, and her children blamed it for her actions; the media took a darker view of her during a sensationalized affair, depicting her as a hot blooded woman scorned and dubbing her Black Widow. She was originally drew a sentence of 29 years,” writes Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr.

Besides directing, will Scott also produce the film together with his wife and producer companion Giannina Scott through his Scott Free Productions.
