Amazon Studios is confirmed to have renewed a second season of their big-budget series, based on a new story taken place in J.R.R. Tolkien’s world.
The tv-series is on the way with a production start in New Zeeland. Amazon Studios head, Jennifer Salke confirmed to Deadline that a second season is already in development. The series has been in works since Amazon got the deal made in November 2017.
As it was aimed to be several seasons, there is also a potential for spinoff series. The studio itself needs to confirm every season too. This news means that it will be a shorter release between season 1 and season 2. After J.A Bayona has finished hos directing on the first season, there will be a shorter break before continue the filming of the rest of the season. J.A Bayona and Patrick McKay is set to be the creator and showrunners and thereafter start develop the second season.
Part of the cast is expected to include Will Poulter, Markella Kavenagh and Joseph Mawle. But these ain’t confirmed by the studio yet.
