Nicolas Cage Will Play Himself
Lionsgate is in talks to buy Nicholas Cage’s film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
If the film-giant buys the project, they will also get Tom Gormican, from That Awkward Moment, as director and a script by Kevin Ette. Ette, who has written for series like Ghosted and Workaholics, while Cage will star and produce under Saturn Films. Together with Mike Nilon and Kevin Turen.
“Cage will play a version of himself […] in need of some money and creatively unfulfilled, begrudgingly accepts a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a Mexican billionaire super fan. When things take a wild turn, Cage is forced to become a version of some of his most iconic and beloved characters in order to extricate himself from an increasingly dangerous situation,” writes Variety’s Dave McNary.
When it comes to Cage’s merits, he has mostly worked continuously since his film debut in 1982’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He won the best actor Academy Award in 1995 for his role Leaving Las Vegas. At the moment of writing this article, Cage has 103 acting credits on the online movie database, IMDb. Fans of the actor can already see him in the upcoming action thriller Grand Isle which premieres in December.
