Forsythe is expected to helm the directional part on the direct sequel from 1987.

This movie is slated to be a direct follow-up from the original, released back then by Orion. Richard Suckle, Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, the screenwriter for the original movie, are set to produce. The original film with Peter Weller was the story about a police officer after an experiment returns to the street with a hybrid-type of police. There have been attempts for two sequels back in the 1990s. MGM bought also Orion and in 2014 they failed to do a reboot of the old character.

Neumeier and Miner together with Justin Rhodes have previously written the script years ago but that script didn’t happen as Forsythe is expected to rewrite script written by Rhodes. Rhodes has this year gained public recognition for his low-budget movie, now streaming on Hulu, called Little Monsters.
