Sam Raimi is directing a new horror-movie, with Columbia Pictures a producer.

Mark Swift and Damian Shannon have written the script, Raimi is also expected to produce and direct the movie through his productions company Raimi Productions.

“I am thrilled to be reunited with Columbia Pictures and re-teaming with Sanford (Panitch, Sony’s motion pictures group president) and Ange (Giannetti),” said Raimi in a statement. “I have been a fan of Shannon and Swift and we have found the perfect adventure to share with the world.”

Andrea Gianetti, Sony Motion Pictures Group President, is overseeing the feature for the studio. Not much has been really revealed for this feature, but it’s described as; “Misery meets Cast Away” in tone.”

The Good, the Evil & the Undead and A Christmas Carol are some of the screenwriters currently projects. Sam Raimi is probably known for his cult-horror Evil Dead movies and Spider-Man featuring Tobey Maguire. Raimi Productions recently produced Crawl.
