The Gina Torres-led Suits spinoff drama is canceled by the network.
The series followed Torres’ character powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson moving to Chicago to be apart of the politics. Besides her, it also starred Morgan Spector, Bethany Joy Lenz, Eli Goree, Simon Kassianides, Chantel Riley, and Isabel Arraiza.
Variety.com describes how the show started from a character perspective during the 7th Season of Suits:
“[…] Pearson travel back home to Chicago and accept a job working for a possibly corrupt mayor while also trying to reconnect with her family,” writes Variety’s Joe Otterson.
Daniel Arkin worked as Pearson‘s executive producer and showrunner. He produced together with Suits creator Aaron Korsh along with David Bartis, Gene Klein, Doug Liman, Kevin Bray, and Chris Downey. Universal Content Productions was the company that they made it through.
The announcement about the show’s cancellation came one month after the Suits series finale. It seems that Pearson missed making a mark on the television audience and critics, which ended in mixed reviews and low ranking.
