Noah Baumbach’s incisive and compassionate look at a marriage breaking up and a family staying together.

Relationships come in many forms. A good way to interact with each other. Especially those in closer relationships, like friends, co-workers and a married couple with a man and a woman.

The latter is the main focus for this witty and emotional drama with some of the highest-paid actors around. With Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson in the spotlight, it reconciles what as it takes you through the process of divorce. The cunning and abysmal behaviour from expansive lawyers, intended to show true colour. Adam and Scarlett are for this feature film to famous to convey the meaning for this plot. The acting is good from the duo.

Even if the comedy is straightforward and the dialogue is somewhat good. But the way it was conveyed unnecessary and unlikely to even happen. Nicole did not have a proper reason to move to Los Angeles and leave Charlie the way she did. It was very sudden and felt forced to make the story forward.

The story is relatively boring – a married couple gets divorced. But it’s the characters that make the story fulfilling. The director attempt in creating an interesting story is done by crafting a meaningful relationship with these leads. The editing is dull and weird at some point, as well. Much of the dialogue doesn’t make sense either. It’s just for an exposition and doesn’t convey a deeper meaning.

Like that Nicole’s father appeared to be gay and dead, was just namedropping and every argument they have is like they talking without any real connection in their character, based on the script. This movie has many problems in terms of a film technical standpoint. The cinematography is good, the comedic timing is on spot but long takes are exhausted and unnecessary, It doesn’t give you more insight to the characters, it just like watching a play to unfold in a very long take, which is underwhelming.

Much of the drama in this film is overdramatic. Although, some intense moments is good and gives a good character depth to both of the characters. The whole deal with Nicole’s lawyer Nora is overwhelming and overdramatic. Every scene Laura Dern is in this film is a pain to watch and she doesn’t make it better. She only makes it worse and doesn’t do it for Nicole. The acting horrible from her part and make her insignificant character in The Last Jedi good. A forgetful character by a decent actor.

The point of this film is to explore the humanity in the process of a divorce and the message is that to stay married to death do you apart or don’t get married at all, unless you’re rich and knows exactly what the deal behind the process means.

A decent entertaining film that gives an overdramatic look on peoples relationship.
