Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has given a brief update on the status on the third Conjuring film.
The news upon The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It has been significantly brief, especially now in a pandemic but as it is scheduled to hit theatres in September, the screenwriter has shared a brief insight on the concept for the third movie in the franchise.
I was not extensively involved in “Malignant” — all I can say is that you should see it as soon as you have a chance.
C3 is a completely different movie than the first two. The franchise is expanding beyond the “haunted house” formula.

James Wan, the director of the first two The Conjuring–movies has been involved as well in his new horror film Malignant, that was supposed to have its release on August 14th but now that Wonder Woman 1984 has been delayed from June to that specific date, Malignant has therefore been postponed indefinitely.
However, this was a brief update on how the third film in the series and the seventh are supposed to be played out. The cast has probably already filmed their scenes so, it’s only in post-production for the time being. We’ll see if we can actually watch the film in theatres as we should or if we have to wait more time before this terrible time is over.
The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It is scheduled for a theatre release September 11th, 2020 and is directed by Michael Chaves. So, what’s next? If they plan to release a trailer it for this film is uncertain. It’s not even assured that it will be released in September as well.
