HUMOUR-FILLED DRAMA FROM THE ’70s

Bill Burr, the comedian and actor, has been not so well-known. And with F Is For Family, he’s trying desperately ventilate a wave of underlying anger with foul-mouthed dialogues as an outcome. With clean character-designs and a substance that is hard to undertake with a brilliant performance from the core-cast. Michael Price is the writer of the series, not Burr as Netflix tries to promote. Burr just makes the jokes.

The animation itself is strong and does not become overwhelming as many other adult animations tend to lean at. It might be distraught in some cases, but the core and heart of these characters is still a presence. Other series tends not to be serial but a sit-com that reset after each episode. No, this is s a prolonged animated TV-series that has run over three seasons.

The storylines are simple even if it takes place during the mid-70s, a period where things were a bit looser and brisker in terms of handling activities. Crimes were different, treating the family and how to conduct business. Even communication was far more different back then and it shows. As there is limit within the family to communicate with each other, the series still somehow find a way to get through the buzz and talk to each other.

Bill Burr, Laura Dern, Justin Long and Sam Rockwell are the strongest abilities this comedy-series has to offer. The whole voicing cast fits well and conformed with each of the characters. Even if it’s a bit cliché and other tropes, although it concludes well in frame of the narrative.

Even if there are things you expect there is some twist and turn during the progress over these three seasons, that will keep you interested enough to watch more. Some episodes stand out more than others, as you would expect. The story overall is good enough to make this series watchable all the way throughout.

So, hopefully, Netflix will take the decision to renew this series that blends drama and comedy in a sophisticated manner. Even if you don’t appreciate the overall experience of the series, it worth it to look this series up.
