Our #Avatar sets are ready — and we couldn’t be more excited to be headed back to New Zealand next week. Check out the Matador, a high speed forward command vessel (bottom) and the Picador jetboat (top) — can’t wait to share more.

This means that Avatar would be the first major motion picture to return to production after having been shut-down industry-wide. Disney also wants to start the production of The Little Mermaid in London at the same time, like other Marvel projects that have been on a long pause.

The new sequel is the first of many, as the production has shot back-to-back on four different sequels. The second film is planned to be released on December 17, 2021. The third of December 2023, the fourth 2025 and the fifth film in December 2027. This would mean that we’ll get an Avatar film every two years between 2021 and 2027.

The Avatar films are produced by Lightstorm Entertainment and 21st Century Studios.  Avatar 2  cast includes Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel, Oona Chaplin, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang among others.

The first Avatar is available for streaming on Disney+ today.
