CONFIRMED: Waititi Set To Direct A Star Wars Film

Taika Waititi has been confirmed as director for a new Star Wars film.

Waititi is set to co-write with Krysty Wilson-Cairn, one of the writers for Oscar-winning movie 1917. Disney and LucasFilm have already confirmed the news and announce it yesterday. There is also another Star Wars TV-Series in the making for DisneyPlus. That series showrunner will be Leslye Headland, the creator of Russian Doll. Waititi has also directed an episode for The Mandalorian, the first season. There are movies slated for December in 2022, 2024, 2026 but if’s Waititi’s Star Wars project is one of those or if it’s separated one.

Taika Waititi  has also spoken out on it:

“I think people see me hanging out with people, especially with ‘Star Wars,’ and think I’m having some big discussions about it. I would f—ing love to.…If it was right. I would want to do any kind of movie if it made sense, and if it felt not like career suicide.”

Waititi’s new film Thor: Love and Thunder hit theatres Feb 18, 2022.
