The first season of the Star Wars TV-Series, The Mandalorian on DisneyPlus debuted last year and with the second season on the way, Favreau gives an update on the new season.
As expected, The Mandalorian captured many fans of Star Wars. It debuted last fall and with a new season on the horizon, the creator of the series has given an insight on the new series. The first series was tremendously popular, especially in the pop-culture area where Baby Yoda became an icon and a symbol for the series itself.
“We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lock down,” executive producer Jon Favreau said during a virtual panel for the ATX Television Festival moderated by Vanity Fair‘s Anthony Breznican. “Thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we have been able to do all of our visual effects and editing and postproduction remotely through systems that had been set up by those companies for us.”
The series follows a bounty hunter, called The Mandalorian. He’s played by Pedro Pascal and has given an imminent presence for the series. Pascal has also been joined with Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito and Carl Weathers. The second season’s cast adds Timothy Olyphant, Temuera Morrison and Michael Biehn. Dave Filoni, as well as Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez, has been set to direct one episode each.
“As we explore partnering with new filmmakers and having new characters and going deeper with the characters we already have, it’s really been very fun and fulfilling and I hope people are having as much fun seeing it as we are having making it,” Favreau said.
According to Jon Favreau, the whole second season is in post-production and are initially ready for an October release for DisneyPlus.
