First Look At Fincher’s Mank (2020)
David Fincher’s Mank (2020), the first director has been made since Gone Girl (2014), which explores the question of who really wrote Citizen Cane. Starring Gary Oldman and has a B/W feature, it seems to dive deep in the story behind Orson Welles.
Gary Oldman plays the Herman Mankiewicz who tries to finish Orson Welles screenplay for Citizen Kane, which also is considered to be the best ever screenplay written. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross return with the director to make the score. Fincher shoots on location in Kemper Campbell Ranch in Victorville, Calif. where Mankiewicz stayed to write the screenplay.
Netflix has also released new stills from the film beforehand the release in October.
Herman Mankiewicz wrote a 300-page but Welles adjusted and edited the screenplay enough to a revisioned version to a 156-pages screenplay. At first the film was called American but the title changed as well. Citizen Kane had nine 9 nominations but only won for Best Original Screenplay which was shared by both Welles and Mankiewicz.
