Godzilla Vs Kong is scheduled to be released theatrically in May 2021 and might be released on HBO Max at the same time.

Netflix offered a bid on more than $200 million for the film’s rights but Warnermedia protested and wanted Legendary’s film moved to HBO Max.  Godzilla vs Kong might move to the streamer simultaneously as the theatrical release in May 2021 but Legendary Pictures said no to comments while Warner Bros. Pictures said:

“We plan to release Godzilla vs Kong theatrically next year as scheduled.”

Netflix offers only covered 75 percent of the budget. There’s also a plan to release it in China, a non-Netflix area and the monster-movies is more popular there.  A third part of the global box office came from China for King of Monsters’ $386 million.  Skull Island gross $168 million in China of overall gross at $567 million.

The official synopsis for the film:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

The fourth part in the Monsterverse, provided by Legendary Pictures, is scheduled for a release May 21, 2021. However, it’s unclear whether the U.S theatrical will be back as normal at that time, due to the ongoing pandemic. The fate of the film is dealt with WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar and Warner Bros. Chairman Ann Sarnoff if they would sell it to HBO Max as well. Even if Warner Bros. Pictures own only 25 percent, they’re in charge of the film’s distribution. Wonder Woman 1984 has recently been confirmed to have a combined theatrical and streaming-release on December 25, 2020. Legendary Pictures rebooted the franchise with Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and the latest entry Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019), making the 2021’s film the fourth instalment in the series and replaces the release-date for Matrix 4.

Godzilla vs Kong (2021) was directed by Adam Wingard and features Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler.
