The casting call is currently ongoing with HBO’s prequel to their flagship Game of Thrones that concluded 2019 and is in search for royal members and Matt Smith might be cast for one of the roles.

Matt Smith has both been played Doctor and Prince before, one in BBC’s Doctor Who and Netflix’s The Crown. Smith is currently in talks for the prequel-series House of the Dragon as prince Daemon Targaryen. Nothing is confirmed, yet.

The description of the role is as follow:

Prince Daemon Targaryen – Male, Age 40 – Series Regular

The younger brother to King Viserys, Daemon wasn’t born with “naked ambition” for the throne despite being in line for it. He’s less methodical and more impetuous. Not to mention easily bored…stumbling from one distraction to the next with the subconscious yet singular obsession with earning the love and acceptance of his brother the king. Most of Daemon’s joy is found at sword-point. But even as the most experienced warrior of his time, he vacillates between vile and heroic, making him the true rogue of the series.

The only confirmed cast member is Paddy Considine playing King Viserys.

Official Synopsis:

The story of the House Targaryen set 300 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’.

The prequel-series House of the Dragon is expected to debut 2022 and is created by Miguel Sapochnik. Sapochnik has directed severalGOT episodes and some episodes on The Mandalorian.
