 A CLASSIC TALE THAT DOESN’T AGE

Snow White has never aged, being the timeless classic story it is. Despite its old inception based on Brother Grimm’s original fairy tale. It has been remade and retold for many decades. Even if Walt Disney remade it in animation and adapted for children, it still worth watching for all ages.

Story-wise, it might not be the most dramatic tale to be told in terms of how simplistic it goes. An evil Queen is jealous of Snow White, the princess, beauty and hunts her to kill her and take her place as the fairest of them all in the whole country. The best part of the whole concept is the characters and the animation, even if the story is short in runtime and occasionally rushed and has shortcuts in the dramatization. The whole animation strikes in a fluid and organic form, it becomes naturally despite being released in 1937. It marks the first full-featured film from Walt Disney and one of the best-animated film ever made. With Snow White only being fourteen in the film encircled by Seven Dwarfs or little children, she calls them before she gets to know them.

It’s a gentle film but also a dark one with the Queen trying to be poison the Princess. The sweet and innocent princess that doesn’t know anything but to cook and sweep and clean the house of the seven dwarfs. The connection she has with the animals is also remarkable and a recurring aspect in the later Disney movies, both the connection to animals and animals that talks like people.

One interesting prospect presenting throughout the film is the relationship between the dwarfs and the fellowship they prove to have. They interact with each other in a natural way considering they’ve lived there in the house for a long time and hasn’t met anyone probably until Snow White showed up. They all have characteristics and easy to keep track of. Despite its short runtime and occasionally weak, rushed plot, Snow White is a timeless classic from Disney. It has been considered the best animated of all time and the animation is flawless. There are few boring parts and the action and drama are almost non-stop. A classic for every age. It also will be interesting to see how the live-action remake from Disney will play out but soon enough we will see.
