That’s right. Netflix hit-series The Crown fifth series is set to start filming in July with a new ensemble of actors for the two final seasons.

Elizabeth Debicki starring as Princess Diana; Dominic West portraying Prince Charles; Imelda Staunton playing the Queen; Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. Even if the season is filming during the pandemic, production is set to start in July as the U.K hopes to lift the rigorous restrictions from April 12, after being in lockdown mode since January.

Prince Harry has also spoken out on the series as well:

“It’s fictional, but it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course, it’s not strictly accurate; it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle is, the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that.

“I’m way more comfortable with ‘The Crown’ than I am seeing the stories written about my family, my wife, or myself,” the prince continued. “That is obviously fiction, take it how you will, but this is being reported on as fact because you are supposedly news. I have a real issue with that.”

The last season finished its production in March and premiered in November to good results such as two Golden Globes, which has become a recurring thing for Netflix to win for each award season.  The new ensemble of the cast is set to continue the storyline from the 1990s and ending with season 6 up to the early 2000s.  So, the series will not involve either Harry or Meghan Markle in the series.

The 1990s were a turbulent time for The Royal Family. The series has chronicled the whole series from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, covering a lot of incidents and dramatic moments. We should expect that the fifth season premieres in 2022 and the sixth and final season ends in 2023.
