
Domnhall Gleeson, most known for Star Wars sequels, Ex Machina and Black Mirror, joins HBO’s upcoming limited series exploring the Watergate scandal, titled The White House Plumbers.
Based on Egil “Bud” Krogh and Matthew Krogh’s book, the story is set to explore the Watergate scandal with Alex Gregory as the writer. Spanning on only five episodes, the series cast includes Domnhall Gleeson in a key role together with Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt and Justin Theroux as G. Gordon Liddy.
The official logline; How Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt, and G. Gordon Liddy, accidentally toppled the Presidency they were zealously trying to protect.
Gleeson is playing John Dean, a young and ambitious WH counsel who orchestrated the illegal project that essentially took the Nixon administration down. Harrelson has previously been in True Detective and Theroux was in The Leftovers. Alex Gregory wrote and executive produced Veep for HBO and now is returning to the political arena. David Mandel, the showrunner of Veep, is set to executive produce and direct all five episodes. Ruben Fleischer and David Bernad are set to executive produce for The District as well. Paul Lee, Mark Roybal, and Nne Ebong are producing for wiip.
HBO and wiip will be co-produce the series. Harrelson and Theroux will also executively produce in addition to their starring roles.
