Old Trio To Return When CBS Orders CSI: Vegas
The CSI team is back. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation returns with a sequel, CSI: Vegas.
The CSI – franchise that has spawned several other franchises is set to return in its original form, with William Petersen, Jorja Fox, and Wallace Langham as David Hodges. The new series also includes Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez, and Mandeep Dhillon. Jason Tracey set to be the writer with CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer TV as producers. Petersen, Jorja, and Langham were all cast of the original series that run for fifteen seasons and became a breaking point in how crime-series drama were produced. The original series was set in Las Vegas, where the new series also takes place.
“Twenty-one years ago, we launched CSI and watched in awe as this new cinematic series launched an entire genre and became a groundbreaking juggernaut that still has global resonance today,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “We are thrilled to welcome the next generation of forensic criminalists to the CSI brand and unite them with the legendary characters from the past who we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox. Crimefighting technology has advanced dramatically over the last several years and combined with classic CSI storytelling, we can’t wait to watch this new CSI team do what they do best: follow the evidence.”
Newsome will play the lead investigator; Rodriguez plays Head Medical Examiner who took over after Hugo three years ago. Dhillon stars as a young CSI investigator following her dreams. Both Petersen and Fox reprise their role as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle.

We’ve enjoyed working on this project with CBS and look forward to welcoming back Billy, Jorja, and Wallace as they join a new group of talented actors in CSI: Vegas.”
Several key people are executive producers on CSI: Vegas such as Tracey who is also the showrunner with Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnn Reed as well as the original creator Anthony E. Zuiker. Petersen also returns as executive producer for the revival. Viacom CBS Global Distribution Group is distributing internationally.
