Disney is reported to have a Cruella (2021) sequel in the works, mostly because of the success with the film where Emma Stone leads the young fashion designer.
Craig Gillespie and Tony McNamara are set to return as director and screenwriter. Emma Stone hasn’t been attached to the project itself but it probably wouldn’t work without her. Cruella follows the young Estella with the ambition of being a fashion designer and her desires along the way. Currently, the film has been locked behind a $30 paywall for direct access. and in theaters, it has dug in $48.5 million worldwide.
“There are some really deep, emotional things that Cruella’s dealing with that send her to the villainous darker side,” Gillespie says. “So in that sense, it is (similar), but it’s definitely its own thing,” he added.
A Disney spokesman has talked about the good reception of the film.
s“We are very pleased with Cruella’s box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney+ Premier Access performance to date,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A’s in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action reimaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film.”ssdsdf
Cruella is just another addition of live-action that Disney has adapted from their animated self. Maleficent, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King are some of the features that the company has released.
