The upcoming series depicting as the spiritual sequel to Playtone and HBO’s critical-acclaimed series Band of Brothers continues to film. Now filming in Oxford with a postponed release.

With Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg producing and giving the series life, and a young cast including Anthony Boyle, Callum Turner, Austin Butler and Jude law’s son, Rafferty, the series appears to make the effort worth it for AppleTV+.  The producing duo has also built a £5 million worth of air force base somewhere in the countryside.

The series of Master of the Air is based on Donald L. Miller novel Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany. The series is set to follow a group of pilots, participating in World War II and fighting against Hitler’s Nazi Regime. The series is reported to cost at least $200 million dollars with 10 episodes, according to Deadline, but The Hollywood Reporter mentions 9 episodes and $250 million dollars. The project has been in development since 2012, but first in 2019 AppleTV+ bought the right to the series.

The hope with the series is to emulate the success and impact that the former series Band of Brothers had, where both Hank’s PlayTone and Spielberg’s Amblin were involved.  The release date has been pushed back to 2022, OxfordMail reports July 17th 2021. Most due to two Covid-cases at the Dalton Barracks. Filming began in April with a preliminary release later this year at AppleTV+.
