Amazon Studios highly-anticipated TV Series Lord of the Rings has wrapped principal production in New Zealand.

 Directed by JA Bayona,  Wayne Che Yip, Charlotte Brändström – this expensive and anticipated series based on J.R.R Tolkiens work and characters, are entering the Post-production stage.  The series will be reaching a cost of 1 Billion dollars. The series is set to release on 2nd September 2022. The series takes place during the Second Age, long before the LOTR trilogy took place.

As Mackans Film has reported before; JA Bayona is the showrunner and has directed the pilot and one episode. Wayne Che Yip has directed four episodes and Brändström directed the final two. The first season is expected to have eight episodes.  Amazon Studios has renewed the series for a second season.

The cast ensemble, which is a huge one, includes the following actors; Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Baldry, newcomer Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cunliffe, Trystan Gravelle, Lenny Henry, Thusitha Jayasundera, Fabian McCallum, Simon Merrells, Geoff Morrell, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, Augustus Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, and Sara Zwangobani.

The productions broke the news on Twitter, releasing several BTS-still and thanking cast and crew. The account also revealed a first look at the series from the first episode.

With a little luck, we might get the first teaser by Super Bowl 2022 in February or an Official Trailer by San Diego Comic-Con in July.
