Netflix flagship of the year; Squid Game has the second season coming.
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the massive hit Squid Game has told AP that the story continues in an upcoming series.
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!” Hwang told the Associated Press.“But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”
The series debuted in September and the showrunner says that it’s still too early to speak out about when the new season might premiere. Even Netflix has announced nothing yet. Given how it usually is, the new series would probably arrive in late 2022 or 2023. Lead actor Lee Jung-Jae will return to Seong Gi-hun.
“I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back. He will do something for the world,” Hwang said.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has said that he would get multiple directors and writers if he develops the second season.
“I don’t have well-developed plans for ‘Squid Game 2,’” he said at the time. “It is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I’d consider using a writer’s room and would want multiple experienced directors.”
Netflix flagship has with Squid Game gross 891 million dollars in value, according to leaked documents from Bloomberg.
