
Apple Original Film has acquired Bad Blood, an original film about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes rise and fall with writer/director Adam McKay as director.
Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence will star as the founder of Theranos in Bad Blood with McKay as the writer, producer, and director. Lawrence teams up with the director after making Netflix Don’t Look Up. Apple Studios will produce the film, together with Legendary Pictures adapted from the revealing novel Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley, written by journalist John Carreyrou.
McKay is producing the feature under Hyberobject Industries, which has a multi-year deal with Apple. Lawrence is producing as well together with Justine Polsky with Excellent Cadaver. Will Ferrell is producing with Gary Sanchez Productions.
Still, Apple hasn’t had a winning film yet after the studio has joined the streaming war, but some buzzing projects Emancipation directed by Antoine Fuqua and Will Smith and the anticipated Martin Scorsese Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.
