Squid Game became Netflix’s biggest TV series for 2021 with over 2.2 billion hours of viewing in 28 days. Now there’s talk about a third season.

The creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed in an interview with Korean Broadster KBS that there’s talk of a second and third season.

“If I do get to do one — one would be the story of the Frontman [a former cop who now oversees the game]. I think the issue with police officers is not just an issue in Korea. I see it on the global news. This was an issue that I wanted to raise. Maybe in season two I can talk about this more.”

The standard policy is that Netflix kills series even after one or two seasons, which would make this even more interesting from the streamer’s side. The upcoming series wouldn’t probably arrive just until late 2022 or 2023 as the creator has talked about the complex writing the series needs.
