Squid Game Season 2 A Reality; “Squid Game-Universe” Has Begun
Squid Game Season 2 is a reality, as Netflix has confirmed the renewal of the popular series.
Big boss and co-CEO and CCO Ted Sarandos for Netflix has now confirmed that the second season of Squid Game is in the works. It’s not a piece of shocking news, as the first season was the streaming service most viewed TV-Series of all time. Netflix has reached out to create outside US content to expand the service’s growth outside the prime content. Bridgerton has been named the second most-viewed original TV show. Sarandos has also mentioned that the fourth season of Stranger Things arrives in summer 2022.
This news has been a long time coming as creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has teased the renewal for a long time.
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So, I almost feel like you leave us no choice!” Hwang told the AP last fall. “But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”
Squid Game has been streamed 1.65 billion hours during the first 28 days of its initial release. The Korean-survival drama has become a global phenomenon, awarding the series three Golden Globes awards, three Critics Choice Awards nominations and a Gotham Award win. Netflix budget for the first season was $21.4 million and estimates to have a delivery of $891 million in affected value. When the second season might have premiere are not set as this project is still in planning phase.
