Exclusive: Vinterberg’s TV-series Starts Principal Shooting This Fall

After the Oscar-winning film Another Round, which won an Academy Award, Thomas Vinterberg is set to produce a Nordic drama series.

Thomas Vinterberg, the Danish famous director of Another Round and The Hunt both movies starring Mads Mikkelsen, are set to produce a Swedish-Danish series. According to a press release from one of the co-producers Film I Väst, this is Vinterbergs first series and the first one after Another Round.

The series will be produced by Film I Väst, Zentropa Sweden and StudioCanal. The shooting of the series vill takes place in Denmark, Czechoslovakia, and Gothenburgs municipality. The series will start shooting in September 2022.

“To once again meet the Oscarwinner Thomas Vinterberg on the set in Västra Götaland is very fun. It adds a certain creativity in major way for the whole filmindustry in the west of Sweden. It will be the fourth production that Film I  Väst, co-produces together with Thomas Vinterberg and the third that takes place in our region,”  says Kristina Börjeson, production manager at Film I Väst.

The drama is set in a near-future Denmark when the country is gradually evacuated. The team describes the scenario as this: “Danes will be dispersed in all directions. Only houses, schools, and empty streets are left… as the water slowly encroaches on the land.

Vinterberg is set to direct all the episodes and co-produce the series with Bo hr. Hansen, who also wrote the first film the director made. Family like Ours will be produced by Zentropa Entertainment’s Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing, co-producing together with Film I Väst, Zentropa Sweden, Lizette Jonjic, StudioCanal, TV2 Denmark, Sirena Films, NRK and TV4/C More with support of the Danish Film Institute.
