
J.J Abrams, the front figure of Bad Robot is going to produce a live-action film based on the car toys.

Abrams’ Bad Robot joining us alongside Warner Bros. Pictures to transform Hot Wheels’ legendary IP into a thrilling story for the big screen.”
J.J Abrams, the director of two Star Wars films, is going to produce the film Hot Wheels together with Warner Bros. Pictures and Mattel Films. Hot Wheels are a 54-years old company, with these iconic cars that have sold over 8 billion vehicles. Mattel Films’ Kevin McKeon and Andrew Scannell are producing the project together with Peter Dodd for Warner Bros Pictures.
“Growing up, Hot Wheels were more than just cars, they were vehicles for our imaginations,” said Dodd. “Today, we at Warner Bros. are thrilled to bring that imagination to the big screen with Robbie Brenner and the creative team at Mattel along with the ingenious minds of J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella and the team at Bad Robot.”
Bad Robot is working with director Matt Shakman on the upcoming Star Trek for Paramount among many other projects.
