WHEN NETFLIX RAISES THEIR CARDS

Ozark is that TV-Series that has raised to be top-notch. Well, it tries to. It does not really try so hard to take itself seriously.  With three seasons in, it first felt more like a rip-off to AMC’s Breaking Bad, in terms of how it was first approaching the story. It is a connection to drugs and violence is unbearable in some sense but there is a concept that is quite similar. We have seen this before. With a quirky character that lives in an isolated town called Ozark.

Jason Bateman is clearly the core during the first three seasons. He knows how to deliver his line in line with his character. He gives a good performance throughout the series. He is the true leader of the series. As he grows as Marty and his interaction with the other character puts this series on a new dynamic level.

Julia Garner is the other one of the main actors that keep this series afloat. Even with the weird midwestern dialect, she provides some of the strongest ones of the cast, that are uniform to the plot and it feels connected to the series overall. The cast overall gives a decent performance. Maybe the problem lies with how the plot has developed throughout the years. Laura Linney, she’s among the cast but doesn’t give that much to the story. Mostly annoying.

Even though some plot points are familiar, and some are just there to shock the audience. For once.  Especially, in the third season when the stakes are a sky-high rise and the conflict has raised somewhat increasingly between the dominated families. For once, in a while, it might be difficult to keep track of these characters if you have not seen everything in one sweep. Particularly, the cliff-hangers that this series has had.

The series has its ups and downs as much as other TV-Series are expecting the do. As much as a series tends to decrease in quality, this series keeps a steady flow. The first season was great, the second was good and the third one became decent after a while. It showcased in this third season that they ended on a cliff-hanger just as well, which also means that the stakes are higher now than before. With the fourth season incoming, hopefully, this series could provide a good series run committed that it ends on a high note. With this end goal, this could be one of the newer series that is worth remembering and one of the best on the market.
