Martin Scorsese
Tribute To Robert De Niro – Marrakech International Film Festival, Morocco – 01 Dec 2018
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are joining forces on the adaption of David Grann The Wager.
David Grann’s The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder will be adapted for Apple Original Films.
Martin Scorsese is tapped to direct the film with Leonardo DiCaprio as the lead. David Grann also wrote the book Killers of the Flower Moon which the duo has already filmed, and arrives in theatres in 2023. It’s the second film produced for Apple. Richard Plepler will executively produce with his Eden Productions.
The story is described as:
Set in the 1740s, Wager’s story is set in motion when a patched-together boat with 30 emaciated men lands on the coast of Brazil. The men were the surviving crew of a British ship that was chasing a Spanish vessel and had crashed onto an island in South America’s Patagonia region. Their tales of surviving the seas and elements made them heroes.
DiCaprio and Scorsese’s collaboration has been ongoing for six films and generated multiple Oscars.
