FLAT, TEDIOUS AND VISUAL SPECTACLE
A third film from The Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them has been released. It’s the third film in a series that takes place in the early 20th century way before Harry Potter was born. It follows the same character as before with both Eddie Redmayne and a corpulent villain. It’s a forgettable batch of films that continues to be produced. This time, it shows up on HBO Max shortly after its initial theatrical window.
Why these films despite bad records keep on going is a conundrum. Why these films are still being made, in an unconvincingly way doesn’t make sense. This time, they changed the actor of Grindelwald, the evil wizard, like a predecessor to Voldemort. Suddenly, Johnny Depp’s character has been replaced by Mads Mikkelsen. While the Danish actor is far better and more superior, the whole concept doesn’t contradict the passion and livelihood that was experienced in the first film where wonder and charm were something part of the plot.
Even the Nazis during the 1930s have their part to play in the chaotic timeline. Jude Law makes a crucial appearance as Albus Dumbledore is really bleak and doesn’t make an impression worth following. The film indicates that he has a relationship with Grindelwald. This is a travelling film where this group of rebellious wizards travel from city to city in Europe in the hope and fighting fascism or the magical version of fascism and the Nazis. The new interpretation of other magical towns shows up. The visual aspects aid the terrible tedious plot. It’s a disastrous plot to follow to an uneventful conclusion in Nepal.
