It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.

The big finale of season four has arrived and it delivers its promise in the long run of one 90 minutes episode and one that surpasses two hours mark. It directly continues volume I and doesn’t really bring anything new with its epic conclusion. A lot of questions get their answers, for better and for worst. We get some crucial death, long coming. Even though there is really a big cast and as we enter the fifth season, the final one. One expects a grandeur series finale that exceeds all expectations. The second part of this batch of episodes delivers on a higher note and there are some surprises and charm that only the Duffer brothers can deliver.

Although the dialogue slips through the cracks now and then, the world of the upside-down is no longer a mysterious conundrum, which makes the series lose its edges at the same time, we can see how the series ended. In its all concept, it has reached its final peak for sure, making sure that the soundtrack is heard with emotional twists and drama. Although, I must say that episode 7, which concluded took me more by surprise than the season finale provided some exciting things but most of the time I waited out the runtime.

Even so, within the finale battle with Vecna that both Max and Eleven have half through the episode, you will predict the ending in a long shot. We get that Vecna will survive by the end and that some minor characters will die to make the more important ones shape and develop them emotionally. Eleven is the one who has grown a lot from the beginning and is such an important character but in the end, the lazy way they use her abilities doesn’t come off believable. These two last episodes serve more on the emotional than the action and suspense even if there is one of those.

It was worth the wait for sure, to get the answers you will need. Something is different this season. Different things are at stake, more people will die, and an unexpected character shows up and dies. It also adds up for a grand slam finale in the last season. Even if they rush the story, it feels organic and goes in a good direction even when the characters do things.  One good thing is that the Russia story is finally over and all the bullshit over there is now gone.  A lot of things happen in these super-packed episodes and are worth watching. Even so, it doesn’t deliver on expectations as the hype was surreal. A good two episodes that are way too predictable and tedious. It’s entertaining but flawed
