
Steven Yeun, known from The Walking Dead, Minari and Invincible has joined the celebrated director Bong Joon Ho’s Sci-Fi thriller for Warner Bros.
Not only Yeun is part of the cast. Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette. The story is currently nameless but is based on Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, which was published in February.
The novel’s story follows Mickey7, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.
The project is Bong’s first outside South Korea since his masterpiece Parasite (2019) which amaze the world. Bong writes, directs and produces the film for his production company Off-Screen. He also works with Brad Pitt from Plan B Entertainment.
