HBO and its biggest series to date was Game of Thrones. The studio tries to achieve the same with House of the Dragon, which has got the final leaked ahead of the Sunday finale.
The first season finale of House of the Dragon releases on HBO Sunday 23rd of October but it got leaked online ahead of the finale. The studio has aggressively taken down illegal copies on torrent sites.
“It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region,” said the spokesperson. “HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet… We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”
The series has been a flagship from the HBO side, trying to emulate the success of its predecessor. The first season premiered in august and stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, and Steve Toussaint.
“The first half of the season is, by its nature, scene-setting,” she said. “There is some really good stuff in there, but it is a windup. When we finally arrive in episode eight, that’s when we finally have the whole cast together for the first time.”
Back in 2017, season seven of Game of Thrones had a similar problem with leaks online, just like the fifth season had episodes that also leaked. It seems to be a trend that HBO has not been able to stop.
