According to several sources, a Harry Potter Series seems to be in works at Warner Bros. It will be streamed at HBO.
Each season will be based on each book of the seven-part series. The source doesn’t want to be named as the deal isn’t done. JK Rowling has not agreed yet to deal, even if the CEO David Zaslav has tried to convince her to move forward with the idea. Rowling has prior already agreed to a theater adaption and a theme park. There’s has been rumours that a new film series is on going as well.
The Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling follows the life of a young orphan boy named Harry Potter, who discovers on his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard. He is accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he makes friends and enemies alike, and learns about magic, spells, and potions. Harry also discovers that he has a connection to the evil wizard, Lord Voldemort, who killed his parents when he was a baby, and who is now trying to regain power and destroy the wizarding world. Over the course of the series, Harry and his friends confront Voldemort and his followers in various battles, leading up to a final confrontation in which Harry must make the ultimate sacrifice to defeat Voldemort once and for all. Along the way, the series explores themes of love, friendship, loyalty, and the power of good over evil.
The idea with an TV-adaption would allow the series-writers to delve into the vast world of wizardry, giving more details than what was possible with those eight films. A Warner Bros spokesperson has declined to comment. Warner Bros prepares to change the streaming-service, change the name, reduce the content and overall a new strategy with already knew characters. JK Rowling will be involved to make sure that HBO and Warner Bros doesn’t screw the deal up. During the films, the author had demands on the production such as only have British actors in the cast.
As the deal isn’t done yet, more news will likely to come. Stay tuned.
